Feeling burnt out or need a little me-time, but not sure what you need? I’ve got you covered. Here’s my weekly self-care routine. I welcome you to try one, or all, steps! However, the first step towards starting a routine is the most important. If you’re reading this, then you’ve already taken that step! Keep it up and keep reading!
Here’s a general overview of How I Self-Care. I’ll share my daily self-care routine soon!
Taking Care of My Finance
Every week I track where my money has gone and will go towards. I also review my investments, sinking funds, and other accounts. Then, I review the monthly overview. It’s become a weekly routine for me. Not only does it help me financially, it helps my overall health. Although I don’t obsess over money, I certainly stress over it sometimes. Who doesn’t (laugh)? It keeps me on track towards financial goals and dreams I aspire to achieve.

Taking Care of My Body
This may seem like a lot to do at first, but I built it up over time. I also break it into parts if I need to. For instance, one evening I focus on hair care while another evening, I focus on skincare. There are times when I’m available to do it all in one go, and that’s what I’ve detailed below.
I start with my hair care routine, by applying an oil to the scalp. I work it in with my fingers, then brush my hair thoroughly with a scalp brush/massager. This allows the oil time to set deeper into the skin. I’ll either tie my hair up into a bun or cover my hair with a turban.
While the oil sets, I move on to my weekly skincare routine (as I have a daily one). This involves an exfoliator, masks, serums, and other items that I use only once or twice a week. The products I use may vary per week depending upon what’s current for my skin. For instance, is my skin dry or oily? What if it’s normal? That’ll determine my skincare products.
As the masks set and settle, I focus on nail care where I trim my nails. Polish, gel and other items are optional at this point. I typically apply nail polish at a different time, if I choose to apply any.
Once the mask has set, I’ll remove it, work in the products if needed, then apply jojoba oil to my face, neck and décolleté. Using my fingers, hands and gua sha, I perform a massage, being mindful of the flow of lymphatic fluid. At this point, I may use the other jade items (brush, jade rollers) as well. However, I typically leave this for a second mask if I use another one, like a sheet mask. I’d apply the sheet mask, then use the jade roller to push the ingredients in.
After completing a mask or two, I perform an abhyanga massage. It’s a light to medium pressure massage, focusing on applying lots of oil to the body, and working it in. This style of massage is great for increasing circulation in the body, working directly with the lymphatic system, detoxifying, and nourishing the skin. By the end of the massage, I should have oil covering my entire body.
When I’ve completed an abhyanga, I apply a body scrub. I work it into the skin, focusing on areas that may need it most like elbows and feet. Exfoliating the body is essential as it helps to rid of any dead skin cells (hello, dry season!).
Next, I shower! I rinse off any of the body scrub, continuing to work it into the skin. I first apply shampoo to the scalp before having any water touch my scalp. Tip: This helps to get oil out of the hair. Then, I thoroughly cleanse my scalp with my fingers and the scalp brush/massager. I apply conditioner and let it sit. While it sits, I shave my legs and wash my body with body wash. I finish the shower by rinsing my body and hair.
After showering, I apply body lotion. For my face, I apply toners, essence water, serums, eye balm, and a moisturizer. For my hair, I may use a treatment spray (great for hydration). Once I’ve finished, I lay down, typically on my bed. I put on the LED mask and meditate for 10-15 minutes. LED masks are helpful with enhancing blood flow, killing bacteria, balancing skin textures, relieving stress, improving lymphatic drainage, and assisting with skin pigmentation.
At this point, I may use a heating pad on my abdomen or back. This helps me with any aches and pains. When the time is up, I perform wood therapy. It helps with cellulite reduction, lymphatic drainage, breaking down fat, relaxation, speeds up metabolism, and more.
All or some of these steps certainly help me to sleep better, which is another crucial aspect to good health. It’s important to get quality sleep and an appropriate amount of it.
